State officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to celebrate the opening of the Canaan Parish. This new affordable housing complex will provide families with reasonable rent prices.
The 100-unit complex located in the heart of New Canaan features an outdoor space with a grilling area, playgrounds, a sports court and a community garden. The complex was designed to provide families with a safe and welcoming environment to call home.
Gov. Ned Lamont spoke at the ceremony and expressed his hope that this complex is just the beginning of more affordable housing units being built throughout the state
"It's really important for the state. You can't believe in economic growth and opportunity unless there's housing for people to live," he stated.
Housing advocates have praised the new complex, saying it will help combat the state's affordable housing crisis.
