Cash, snacks stolen from Little League concession stand
Milford police are searching for suspects who stole money and snacks from a concession stand at a local Little League baseball field.
Officials say the theft happened at Lou Gehrig Field on Meadowside Road.
The concession stand operator said the suspects walked through a fence, pried the door open with a screwdriver and kicked through Sheetrock to get to the cash and food. The league has since hired a welder to make repairs and installed locks.
The concession manager, Scott Worzel, says the stolen money and food profits would have gone to field maintenance and uniforms for the league. He says it's like stealing from children.
Families in the Milford National Lou Gehrig Little League were upset following the incident.
"It's kind of like you're doing that to the league, you're doing that to our families," says Jose Archuleta of Milford.
Worzel says a similar incident happened at another location, and they are now planning on getting a security system.
The league was able to reopen the stand for Monday night's game.
