The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than 50 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far.

This means the U.S. still has a chance at getting herd immunity this year, but is still far behind.

Experts say 80% of the U.S. needs to be vaccinated in order to have herd immunity.

In Connecticut, more than 580,000 people have gotten their shots over the last three months. This includes 61% of residents who are 75 years old or older.

Connecticut ranks in the top four of states for distribution.
