A possible listeria outbreak linked to cheese has sent some Connecticut residents to the hospital, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The institute says the outbreak has also reached New York, Maryland and Virginia.
The CDC says the food safety alert is for queso-style cheese, which is the soft type of cheeses used in some Hispanic cooking.
Pregnant women and people over 65 should avoid eating it.
The CDC recommends to only eat cheese that's made with pasteurized milk.
