An attorney says the case against a man charged in a machete attack has been dropped.

Gerald Valle had been facing felony assault charges for an attack at Central High School two years ago that left a man critically injured.

Attorney Dennis Bradley said the judge and state's attorney decided not to move forward with the case.

The case will be officially dismissed in 13 months if prosecutors do not choose to reopen it.
