Christmas Day marks one year since a raging house fire claimed the lives of three girls and their grandparents in Stamford.

Lily, Grace and Sarah Badger were killed when their Shippan Avenue home went up in smoke early Christmas morning. The girls' mother, Madonna Badger, and her boyfriend, Michael Borcina, were the only survivors. Badger's parents also died in the fire.

Brendon Keatley, one of the responding firefighters, says his heart goes out to the family of the little girls who were lost.

A fund to raise money for arts in schools has since been set up in the girls' honor.

The Stamford Fire Department is also working on a project to make sure every home in the city has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
