A church service and candlelight vigil was held in Bridgeport Sunday in memory of State Rep. Quentin Williams.
Mourners gathered at Summerfield United Methodist Church after Williams was killed in a wrong-way car crash in Cromwell early Thursday morning. Police say the wrong-way driver who slammed into his vehicle was also killed.
Williams was the first Black person to represent Middletown in the State Legislature. Elected officials and community members hope to honor the respected leader.
“We want to honor him in Bridgeport and remember him and remind ourselves of what he has done and his legacy will live on,” said Mayor Joe Ganim.
