The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference announced Thursday the return of spring sports with certain COVID-19 restrictions.
Spring sports return at the end of the month for student athletes in Connecticut, the CIAC announced during the release of its 2021 spring sports plan.
All sports will be allowed to compete subject to the Department of Public Health guidelines, Gov. Lamont has said.
Practices for all spring sports start on March 27 with pitchers and catchers on March 20. No more than three games a week are allowed, and fans can fill the stands.
The CIAC says each district will come up with its own plan.
The CIAC says tournaments will be allowed. They will begin the end of May or beginning of June, depending on the sport.
When it comes to baseball, softball, lacrosse, track and field, tennis and golf,  athletes do not have to wear a mask when competing.
For boys indoor volleyball, which is indoors, masks must still be worn at all times.
The CIAC says locker rooms should be used as little as possible, and coaches and players should monitor themselves for any COVID symptoms.
