The bright light of a young Monroe girl who touched many lives still lives on through a foundation created by her mother.
Ciara O'Driscoll had one seizure a month since she was very little. Her mother, Lori, says it was from a rare condition that causes the seizures and delays development.
Lori O'Driscoll says as Ciara got older, she seemed to be doing so much better - but three days after her 12th birthday, she died.
She says that she started the Ciara's Light Foundation to help families with children with life-threatening conditions.
The foundation also provides scholarships to Masuk High School graduates pursuing a career in special education.
Lori O'Driscoll has also created an adult-sized fairy garden to remember her.
The Chasing Ciara's Light 5K/12K Trail Run will be held at Great Hollow Lake on Oct. 30.
