Students at CS 55 unveiled New York City's first ever school of crops Tuesday.
The school of crops was the brain child of teacher Stephen Ritz. Ritz used his prize money as a global teacher finalist to create the garden in a classroom, which is named 'The Green Bronx Machine.'
Students learn about pumping out, and producing and conserving energy. They also learn about the environment. The students grow more than 37 different kinds of fruits and vegetables
The students made healthy snacks for all those who came to check out their garden. Guests included former White House Chef Bill Yosses and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz.
The borough president declared today CS 55 Day.
