While repairs are being made to their original location, a Stamford nonprofit has found a temporary home to continue providing kids with more than just a sense of style.
Clothes to Kids of Fairfield County gives out new and gently used clothes to kids in need for free.
Families are able to shop twice a year for wardrobes, which consist of five shirts, four bottoms, sneakers, undergarments and jackets.
The nonprofit annually serves 900 families and donates over 1,200 wardrobes.
Clothes to Kids had been located inside the Lathon Wider Community Center. At the beginning of the year, the center was forced to close because of a mechanical issue that caused the building to have no heat, water or electricity.
The nonprofit is currently located in the Domus building on Lockwood Avenue and is open by appointment only.
Volunteers say they are helping make kids feel good on the inside and outside.
"We're building self-esteem, we're building confidence which makes the children feel better and do so much better in the classroom and helps with their learning experience," says Jill Fogelson.
In order to be eligible for the program, families need to apply and complete a form.
