There is increasing confidence in a coastal storm impacting our borough by the end of the weekend. However, there are still uncertainties within the forecast.

The timing will be Sunday into Monday for the worst of the storm. The question is, how far north will this storm move?

Scenario 1: South

If this storm stays more to the south, we will experience less of an impact. We will be drier with less rain, but still experience strong gusts, decent-sized waves, and coastal flooding. The more south that this stays, the less intense the wind, rain and coastal flooding will be.

Scenario 2: North

If this storm tracks more to the north, we could experience more of the brunt of the storm. This could involve repeat rounds of torrential rainfall, strong to damaging gusts up to 60 mph, large waves and widespread coastal flooding along with beach erosion.

We will continue to keep you updated as this storm evolves and tracks closer to us. Now is a good time to make a plan for what to do if your neighborhood does experience dangerous weather leading to power outages, downed trees and flooding. Have a plan for how to keep you and your family safe!
