Friends and family gathered at the Milford Green Tuesday to raise awareness for a young woman who is battling cancer.
Danni Kemp is a Division 1 softball player for Stony Brook University on Long Island. This summer, friends say she was playing for the Stratford Brakettes when she was hit in the helmet by a pitch while at bat. After showing signs of what doctors initially thought was a concussion, an MRI revealed that Kemp had an inoperable brain tumor.
Dozens of light blue bows were stapled to trees at the Milford Green in support of Kemp. News 12 is told that light blue is her favorite color.
Kemp has completed radiation and will go to Germany next month for additional treatment.
Loved ones say that since insurance does not cover many of Kemp's medical expenses, a GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money.
As of Tuesday night, the fundraiser sits at more than $116,000 toward its $150,000 goal.
