A Metro-North spokesman has issued an apology to commuters inconvenienced by a train that missed its Westport stop last night. Passengers say at least 30 people were waiting for their train to stop when it bypassed the station at around 9 p.m. Many say they were delayed for an hour after getting off in Fairfield and then waiting for a train back to Westport. Officials with Metro-North say the engineer is new and was filling in for the regular engineer, who is on vacation. They say the engineer will attend a disciplinary hearing and may be suspended.
