Connecticut Attorney General William Tong is suing the Trump administration for allegedly trying to coerce states into performing federal immigration duties.

Tong said the administration threatened to withhold federal funding for emergency services and infrastructure.

"The federal government needs to do its own job—lawfully—and stop this unconstitutional fixation on micromanaging sovereign state business," Tong said in a statement.

"You cannot coerce states into doing the federal government's job by stealing our disaster relief and transportation funding," he added.
