The Connecticut Department of Transportation distributed free masks today at transit hubs across the state.
As ridership is increasing again, officials want to ensure that everyone is protected.
News 12 Connecticut caught up with the mask giveaway at the Greater Bridgeport Transit Bus Station.
"Everybody knows now that masks are one of the most important things we can do to prevent the spread of COVID and so we've been handing out, along with other transit agencies across the state, masks to our riders," says Doug Holcomb, general manager of Greater Bridgeport Transit. "So, it's important to wear the mask when you're on the bus, at the stops, at the stations, anywhere in public transportation. Protect everybody else and the drivers."
The DOT also wants to remind riders that if they forget their face coverings, free masks are also available at staffed transit stations and on board trains.
