The Connecticut Health Department has advised vaccine providers in the state to start offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine again.
This recommendation comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration met on Friday and said the administration of Johnson & Johnson vaccine could restart.
Acting Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Deidre Gifford said, "This pause and review will hopefully give people confidence that we take the safety of these vaccines very seriously and are committed to ensuring that that they meet the highest safety and effectiveness standards."
Dr. Gifford also said you have a higher likelihood of getting sick or hospitalized with COVID-19 than from getting vaccinated.
She recommends all residents ages 16 and older to get the shot as soon as possible.
