Connecticut Lt. Gov. Susan
Bysiewicz participated in a census walk in Stamford Friday morning.
Bysiewicz, along with other officials, encouraged
census participation in the city's hard to count neighborhoods.
While the city has over 67% response rate, there are
households that still have not responded yet.
During the walk, the group handed out information
and reminded people of the multiple ways the census can be filled out this
year.
Bysiewicz says it's crucial for residents to know
how important the census is.
"For every person we
miss, that's $2,900 in funding per year, so $29,000 for every person we miss
over a 10-year period to really important programs like SNAP, Medicare
Medicaid, Head Start school lunch and breakfast programs," she
says.
Households have until Sept 30 to respond to the census.
