Nearly 100 people plunged into Long Island Sound Thursday for a good cause.

Connecticut Make-A-Wish held its sixth annual polar plunge at the Surfside Hotel in Stratford.

The plunge raised money for the nonprofit, which grants wishes to children who are sick or have critical illnesses.

The event also celebrated the organization's 40th anniversary.
