Connecticut man identified as victim of fatal Florida drowning

Police say Jason DeGray of Windsor Locks died after getting caught in a rip current while helping his son.

Cocoa Beach police have identified the Connecticut man who drowned in Florida last week as 42-year-old Jason DeGray.

According to police, the Windsor Locks resident was caught in a rip tide on April 14 after saving his son.

Authorities said DeGray had helped his son reach safety before he was pulled under by the current.

Funeral services for DeGray are scheduled for Friday.
