Survey results released Wednesday rank the southwestern Connecticut shoreline dead last among 80 American summer travel destinations.
The area may be one of the nicest areas in the country to live, according to the survey by WalletHub.com, but Fairfield County took last place. Milford and New Haven tied for second-to-last.
Las Vegas and Orlando, Florida topped the list.
Rankings were judged by costs of hotels, food and gas, as well as traffic, the weather and the number of local attractions.
"We respectfully disagree with the report as it favors major cities with large airports," says Randy Fiveash, director of the state's Office of Tourism. "Connecticut is a great place to visit because there are a wide range of experiences across the state and so much to do per square mile in cities and towns, big and small."
