The Connecticut state parole board is resuming a policy that allows it to reduce sentences for even some of the most serious criminals.
The policy was suspended for a few months due to political opposition from Republicans. Gov. Ned Lamont even fired the board's chairman in the wake of the controversy.
Last year, 44 convicted murderers had their sentences reduced.
