Clodomiro Falcon, a Venezuelan American from Stratford, told News 12 that he's in full support of the U.S. military action in his homeland.
"Trump was right to take that narco-terrorist Nicolas Maduro out and take over Venezuela, because Maduro was not democratically elected. He cheated and took over my homeland by force," said Falcon, who's been a U.S. citizen for decades.
Wayne Winston of Trumbull disagrees.
"It's outrageous that Trump went into another country and took out a sitting head of state. This is all a distraction from millions of Americans losing their health insurance and their child care. The military action was one big distraction," Winston said.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Congress must now hold a vote on a war powers resolution.
"This military invasion took place without any notice given to Congress, and that was wrong," Blumenthal said. "If we are starting another endless war and putting troops on the ground in a quagmire without any national security objective and need, count me out.”
Connecticut Republicans released a statement that said in part: "Presidents of both parties have long relied on their constitutional authority to act when foreign actors pose a direct threat to the safety and security of the United States and its people. President Trump did exactly that."
