Paul Bucha, Connecticut's last living Medal of Honor recipient, died Wednesday.
The 80-year-old was recognized for actions during the Vietnam War and a was longtime Ridgefield resident.
Bucha unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 1993.
"Paul Bucha was a courageous and dedicated champion of our nation and a defender of freedom," Lamont said in a written statement. "And he represents some of the very best of Connecticut."
