A Bridgeport landmark celebrated the completion of major construction project Friday.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at The Klein Memorial Auditorium for its first building addition in its 85-year history.
The $3.8 million project included installing an elevator, a wheelchair-accessible restroom, a conference room and three new offices.
The theater's lighting, audio and video projection systems were also upgraded, along with an outside digital billboard to promote events.
Its executive director says the project has helped the theater put on more shows and create jobs.
"We have been able to be the host of the Bridgeport Film Festival for its entire five years only because we have a projection system. Tonight our kids are performing for our after-school program fame junior. Instead of having to invest in sets, we're just projecting background images the set," said Laurence Caso.
The majority of the project's funding came from the State Bond Commission, with the city contributing some funding.
