Local contractors say part of their business is beginning to return, while the pandemic continues to impact the other half.
Stevenson Bruneau, of Preference Construction in Bridgeport, says people are still weary of having workers coming into their homes, so demand for interior jobs like painting and renovation work remains low. However, outdoor work is beginning to take off.
"But in terms of people who do exterior work, such as [a] roof, just because of winter's coming, folks who had issues with their roof, tend to start calling a lot of roofing companies to give them estimates and things of that nature. So in terms of exterior part of construction, things are coming back," Bruneau explains.
Bruneau encourages residents to support local contractors by letting them do interior work while observing social distancing and wearing personal protective equipment.
