A Norwalk man was arrested Thursday after a narcotics investigation led police to execute three search warrants, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
Police said 37-year-old Jesmar Velazquez was taken into custody without incident at Stamford Superior Court, where he was appearing for an unrelated matter. Investigators had obtained search warrants for his residence, person and vehicle. Velazquez was also wanted on three active arrest warrants charging him with the sale and possession of a controlled substance.
During the searches, investigators said they seized a firearm, a pellet gun resembling a firearm, 4.54 grams of crack cocaine, 10.1 grams of powder cocaine, cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales, drug packaging materials and other items commonly associated with narcotics distribution.
Based on the evidence recovered, police charged Velazquez with additional offenses, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a firearm.
The new charges are in addition to the three existing arrest warrants for the sale and possession of a controlled substance.
Velazquez is being held on a $525,000 bond for the arrest warrant charges and a separate $500,000 bond for the charges stemming from the search warrants. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9.
