The New York Mets have a new team member, but this one has four legs.
Howie, an 11-week-old yellow lab, is joining the organization as a future service dog.
The puppy will be co-raised by the Mets and America’s Vet-Dogs.
Officials say he will receive basic training and socialization with help from team staff, players and even fans.
Howie is named after longtime Mets broadcaster Howie Rose, who is set to retire at the end of the 2026 season.
The program aims to prepare the puppy for future service work supporting veterans and first responders.
