We're a week away from the end of October and as we enter the last few weeks of Autumn, the weather is cooling down, and our weather pattern is becoming more favorable for storms. We have the potential first frost of the season on the way early next week and the potential for wet weather to affect Halloween plans. There's a lot to keep our eyes on, so here's everything we know so far.
Today & the weekend
Our Friday is gorgeous for fall lovers, and that's exciting to see since this is our peak weekend for fall foliage in much of Western Connecticut. Afternoon highs are near 60 degrees. Saturday and Sunday are dry and chilly. Morning lows are near 40 and afternoon highs are in the 50s. This is a few degrees cooler than average for this time of the year. Typically we are around 60F.
Early Next Week
Temperatures are going to drop even more Monday and Tuesday. Highs are going to struggle to reach the mid 50s but my bigger concern is the potential for the first frost of the season south of Merritt Parkway on Monday morning. So, plant lovers, you know what to do! Monday is my pick out of the work week because it's dry and sunny. Clouds will build on Tuesday and that could come with a few showers.
The Next Storm
We are tracking a potential coastal storm as early as Wednesday and Thursday, but some model guidance brings the storm in on Thursday and next Friday ... which as a reminder is Halloween. There's a lot we don't know about the strength and timing of the storm so check back for updates. We'll have a clearer picture on Monday. As of right now, plan for at least stray showers Tuesday through Friday with the most likely days for Rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
