Councilwoman calls for fellow member to resign following fatal Bridgeport shooting
There have been four homicides in Bridgeport since Thursday, including one that took place at a club that was managed by a city council member.
The Keystone is now closed, but there is controversy over the deadly shooting that took place and the fact that the club was managed by a city council member.
Nyair Nixon's family confronted officials and reporters Wednesday at City Hall.
They believe City Councilmember Eneida Martinez and others at the social club did not do enough to help the 21-year-old after he was shot.
Witnesses say after he was shot, Nixon may have been pushed outside, stumbled in the street and was hit by a car.
"The way that my son died was tragic. Tragic, it was horrific," said Charles Nixon.
A fellow councilmember is calling on Martinez to step down.
"City Councilwoman Enida Martinez needs to resign," said Councilwoman Maria Pereira. "It's clear it was a strip club, she was served two cease and desist orders, days later she was approved to operate a social club."
News 12 reached out to Martinez.
Police are investigating and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
