A missing Stamford teen survived a serious car accident Friday after the driver ? a registered sex offender ? led South Carolina police on a high speed chase.Police say the boy?s father reported his 14-year-old son and the family?s Lexus missing Wednesday. Stamford detectives issued an all points bulletin for the vehicle. A sheriff in Colleton County, South Carolina spotted the car on I-95 and attempted to pull the driver over. According to the sheriff, that?s when 27-year-old Adam Mauro, of Pelham, New York, sped up. The car crossed a median and plowed into an 18-wheeler, killing Mauro, according to a state Highway Patrol spokesman. The 14-year-old was thrown from the car and is expected to survive.Stamford police are investigating whether the boy was kidnapped or willing went with Mauro, who was a registered sex offender.
