Stamford fire officials say they responded to a fire on the barge that was launching fireworks for the city's annual display off Cummings Beach Saturday night.
Officials say the fire was caused by cardboard boxes and other packaging from used fireworks.
They say such fires are common after fireworks shows, but say that this fire was too large for the technicians onboard to handle themselves.
Officials say no one was injured.
