Crews had to get creative to fight a massive fire that engulfed a Derby home on Friday evening.
The local fire department says crews were dispatched to the scene on Derby Avenue around 5:11 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls.
Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke, flames and intense heat blocking their entry through the front door.
The porches near the rear of the home had also collapsed. Responders decided to flow their ladder pipe in order to extinguish as much as possible before being able to send crews inside.
Once it was accessible, they entered and put out the remaining flames. It is unclear if anyone was hurt.
Officials say the structure required an extensive overhaul. As of Saturday morning, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
