Officials examined the scene of a single-engine plane that crashed outside of Danbury Airport Thursday evening.
They say the plane crashed into a swamp about a quarter mile short of the runway just before 7 p.m. Officials say the pilot was able to get himself out of the plane and was not hurt.
Crews arrived at the plane in a boat Friday and lifted it out of the water with a crane. They say the plane was then taken to the airport.
Neighbors who spoke with News 12 say they are still shaken up by what happened but they are glad the pilot is safe.
