Crews rescue man with fractured knee in Aspetuck Land Trust
A Weston man is recovering after losing control of his mountain bike on a trail in the Aspetuck Land Trust in Easton Friday afternoon.
"The next thing I know, I was flying through the air,” says Neil Sobol. “And as soon as I hit the ground, I knew something bad had happened.”
Sobol was able to call 911 and give police his coordinates.
Easton police and Easton and Weston fire crews then set up a staging area at the intersection of Freeborn and Norton Roads.
Rescue crews say they faced many challenges with the terrain and had to walk through the woods to find him.
After nearly two hours, rescuers located Sobol and transported him to Bridgeport Hospital with a fractured knee.
Sobol tells News 12 Connecticut he is grateful for the crews’ hard work.
"These guys did a great job,” he says. “Especially considering they had to carry me part of the way out."
