The Board of Regents announced a new Financial Accountability Task Force on Thursday.
The new task force will meet regularly with outside auditors.
It comes after an audit revealed that Connecticut State Colleges and Universities leaders spent money on lavish dinners, concerts, cellphone bills, and even dry cleaning.
The audit revealed that CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng charged $19,000 for meals and alcohol to his state credit card.
Cheng apologized to the board on Thursday.
"Even though they were taken on behalf of the system, I recognize that my intent did not match the impact and the perception.” Cheng said,” and that falls on me."
