The City of Norwalk celebrated United Nations Day Tuesday morning with a flag-raising ceremony outside City Hall.

Mayor Harry Rilling delivered a special proclamation in recognition of the day.

Rilling says it's especially important to recognize the UN now amid growing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East.

In Westport, the town honored the day by flying world flags and holding a ceremony at Town Hall.
