The state's emergency response system was scrutinized in Hartford Tuesday.
A hearing took place in response to a December bomb scare that evacuated all 45 courthouses in the state. Lawmakers wanted to know why local authorities waited hours after the initial threat before contacting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Representatives of the Department of Public Safety defended their actions, saying certain resources weren't needed because they didn't believe the threat was terrorist related.
Two committees are looking over public safety procedures to see if anything can be improved.
