The Connecticut House of Representatives voted 148-0 this afternoon to pass a new law requiring all rape kits to be electronically tracked.
The law will see to it that victims are able to find out when their kit is tested and if the DNA on it matches someone.
The Senate had passed the bill earlier this week. Gov. Dannel Malloy announced in a statement his intent to sign the legislation and commended its approval.
“The proper testing of these evidence kits is both a matter of justice for the victim and a matter of public safety,” said Gov. Malloy.
