Kids hoping to party on at homes where alcohol is served to minors might soon see their partying days end.
Police departments from across Connecticut gathered Tuesday to discuss underage drinking and a new law that allows law enforcement to enter homes where they suspect minors are abusing alcohol. Right now, a legislative loophole allows teens to drink in private homes.
Officers say underage drinking is a real problem, as are parents reluctant to bust up home parties. One trooper, Chris Bartolotta, leads workshops on ways to stop teen drinking and says the safety of teens is a parent's and officer?s primary concern.
The new law will take effect on October 1st and will permit officers to hold accountable property owners who allow underage drinking.
