CT ranked the best state for working moms

Two of WalletHub’s findings for the Nutmeg State include a smaller gender pay gap and better remote-work opportunities.

Connecticut has landed the No. 1 slot as the best state for working mothers, according to a report from WalletHub.

All 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, were compared through metrics to identify where working mothers have the best professional opportunities, as well as support systems for affordable childcare and work-life balance.

WalletHub’s key findings for the Nutmeg State include:

  • In 2025, unemployment rates for women at 2.7%. 

  • Small gender pay gap with women earning over 89% of what men make. 

  • Top state for daycare quality.

  • Very good parental-leave policies.

  • One of the best places in the U.S. for working from home.

Most of New England ranked high, with Massachusetts coming in second place, followed by Rhode Island, New Jersey, Vermont and Maine.

Louisiana was ranked the worst state for working moms.
