Stamford city education officials sat down to review the superintendent's proposed budget, ahead of Thursday's public hearing on the matter.
Educators who spoke with News 12 say it's unfortunate that 25 teaching positions could be axed as part of the budget cuts.
"When you start cutting the major arteries in these schools, we don't look accommodating or inviting,” board member Dr. Rebecca Hamman says.
Stamford Public Schools claims the proposed cuts will only result in a net loss of 12 full-time equivalent staff.
"After this meeting tonight, I'm really looking forward to passing a budget we can all be confident about,” board member Gabriela Koc says.
The public will be given the opportunity to speak during Thursday's hearing.
