Elena Kozlova, an emergency room doctor at Danbury Hospital, says she wanted to a way to show her support for what she calls “the unsung heroes of the emergency department.”
She found a way with her favorite hobby – using her crochet skills to make a Bernie Sanders doll in his now-famous inauguration pose.
After 20 hours of work, her first Bernie doll was complete and she posted the picture of her creation online. Since then, she's been flooded with requests to make more.
Sales from the dolls will be going toward the janitors and other staff at the hospital.
“A lot of our staff works tirelessly…and some of our staff even have additional jobs,” she says. “My hope with raising money is we can give back to the emergency room," says Kozlova.
You can get your own Bernie doll by visiting her Etsy shop at DoctorKCrochet.
