The annual Swim Across America event for cancer research has been postponed due to COVID-19, but that hasn’t stopped the Darien High School swim teams from keeping the tradition alive.
The annual event usually attracts close to 400 swimmers and volunteers, including the boys’ and girls’ teams from Darien High School.
This year, the teams held their own personal challenge, swimming from buoy to buoy.
“I think Swim Across America is a wonderful event,” said Coach Marj Trifone. “I have found it to be an incredible thing. Many inspirational speeches. It’s so well run. I am hoping many more members of my team participate in it.”
Trifone said she is proud her team was able to keep the tradition alive despite coronavirus restrictions.
