The Bridge Family Center in Harwinton is set to close following claims of abuse at the group home, according to DCF officials.
The Harwinton group home for teens has been the center of an investigation into sexual assault and trafficking allegations when a published report came to light in September.
Published reports said a mother sued the Bridge Family Center in Harwinton over claims her daughter, 14, was physically abused at the group home.
The report also said the girl lived at the home from April 25 to June 26, 2023.
In the lawsuit, the mother reportedly claims the girl was exposed to inappropriate activities, including the sexual assault of minors and other illegal acts.
In a statement, DCF Commissioner Vannessa Dorantes says in part,
"The decision was made not to maintain a Short-Term Assessment and Respite (STAR) home in Harwinton. Along with our community partners, we continue to review all aspects of our service provision for those children and families we serve."
