Police are reminding holiday shoppers that while Black Friday may come with hefty deals, the event also puts shoppers at a greater risk of theft.
Officials say that shoppers should always be aware of their surroundings and be mindful not to leave personal belongings unattended.
“Lock your cars when you park them. Don't leave packages that are visible through windows,” says Lt. Terry Blake, of the Norwalk Police Department. “While shopping with a shopping cart, don't leave purses or bags unattended -- it only takes a split second for an individual to reach into that bag and steal that wallet.”
Police also suggest parking in a well-lit area for better visibility.
Shoppers are encouraged to call police with any questions or concerns that they may have during the holiday.
