The state medical examiner's office has ruled the death of a Ridgefield toddler who was left in a hot car last month a homicide.
The report says that 15-month-old Benjamin Seitz died as a result of hyperthermia.
Police say the boy died July 7 after his father, Kyle Seitz, left him in the backseat of his car in near 90-degree heat. Police say Seitz forgot to drop the boy off at day care. Seitz discovered Benjamin that afternoon before taking him to the hospital.
Ridgefield police met with prosecutors Thursday. They say they have been asked by the prosecutor's office not to comment on the case because the investigation is still ongoing.
There is no word on any potential charges against Kyle Seitz.
News 12 spoke today with Seitz's attorney John Gulash, who says he wants to make it clear that the medical examiner's finding does not equal criminal intent.
