There are less than 1% of Black-owned businesses in Connecticut, data from Investopedia shows.
The data was gathered while looking at the number of employees who work for Black-owned businesses in Connecticut which is about 1.33%.
Caleb Silver with Investopedia says Connecticut trails the tri-state area in terms of Black-owned businesses overall.
Silver says there is growth in male Black-owned businesses in Connecticut with 33% growth.
He says female Black-owned businesses were about 22% and that the growth trends are favorable.
