Commuting to and from work in Connecticut is down significantly in some counties since 2019, new statistics show.
Caleb Silver with Investopedia says Google mobility trends showed commuting is down in Fairfield County by 22.8%. He also says it’s down in Hartford County by 21%, New Haven County by 14.7% and Litchfield County by 11.1%.
Silver says the increase in gas prices could be having an impact.
Silver says people in Connecticut also aren't traveling as much anymore to and from recreational areas, cafes, museums, and parks.
He says those statistics are still well below 2019 levels. Silver says recreational travel is down 16% in Fairfield County.
