The state's Department of Public
Health says it's preparing for COVID-19 vaccines to be administered to children
pending government approval.
The department says the shots, which are expected to get final approval in the coming
days, will be available Nov. 4.
Unlike the first
wave of vaccines for adults, many local doctors' offices will be providing the
shots. They will also be available at local pharmacies.
Large-scale
clinics are also in the works at some schools and community health centers.
The state expects
to have 100,000 doses on hand by Nov. 4. There are currently around 280,000
children in the age 5-11 range living in Connecticut.
